the girls (usual crew plus claire) came over last night for 'movie night' and we proceeded to talk over breakfast at tiffany's. im still not exactly sure what its about, but i got the gist of it. i will watch it again when i get back to canada. during some random part of the conversation claire says something about how i used to have photos in my room at grad house of me as a kid. since i have become the most organized person ever and know exactly where everything i possess is, i knew where they were- i cam across these photos in a folder during the last week while packing. i think some of them are funny because i look like a boy. well not full on, but for me they were not girly photos. i was told that i still make this face:

around 1984
i still like to scream.. ;-)

there is another photo that was taken last october where im making a similar face to the above. i was going to link too and do the self glorifying side by side comparision, but i decided the recent one was too stupid. its on facebook, with all the other photos that protect the guilty. and while i was taking photos of photos, i took one of this too because the expression on our faces make me laugh. notice how i was 20 years ahead of the fashion trend with my heavy fringe.

with the grandparents
i think im age 4 here

i probably still make that face too.

today i crossed something else off the list of tourist things i need to do before i leave melbourne. i went (back) up the eureka tower. (yes, i could see my house!!) this time i took a camera, and it was a sunny day. it was about an hour before sunset so the glare on one side of the building was unreal. thankfully the outside deck is on the other corner from direction the sun sets. the outside deck was ridiculously windy and i was quite cold after i had been out there from 5-10 minutes. we didnt go out there in july, and i think it was opened, but would have been pretty cold in winter.

flinders station and fed square

when i came back down the tower i walked around southbank for a bit. i could see there was a carousel near the queensbridge crossing. no one was on taking a ride when i went by. its wasnt quite grand enough to look stimulating.

its feels like summer. the clocks go forward tonight. damn, losing sleep. it now means that it wont be getting light before 6am, and i wont wake up way too early with sunlight coming in my window. good? i did go outside today and plan to head down to the yarra for an hour or so and do nothing, outside, in the sun. its almost 30 degrees today,

the CBD and southbank
i post this view too much, i know. its days like today where looking out at port philip bay and the nice clear sky makes me happy. and that i should go outside.

with kim in town yesterday i had thought it would be a nice idea to go up the eureka tower. sadly it was not as bright and sunny yesterday as it is today, or in this photo, but we went up the tower anyways

i had a slighty better photo of southbank taken during the comm games last year, but the tower was still under construction. i have no recollection of the construction phase since at that time my distance travelled each day was about 500m across the street. yes the beginning of 2006 was a sad time.

anyhow, it was $11 to go up which i thought was pretty cheap. we basically walked in, walked up the elevator, and went up to the 88th floor. no security. at all. no metal detectors, no bag check, no cool little sensor machine to detect toxins you may have on you.

the view was really good. i was pretty happy with and it gave me a new perspective on the city. it looked bigger from up above. the buildings on the "north bank" as it were are quite grid like viewed from the south end. we were up there as the sun went down so it was nice to see stuff lit up. my apartment could not be seen clearly, by me and my poor eyesight, but i could see bhp, so i knew where i lived.

the "cube" ride as it turned out to be it stupid. i thought it was going to be a glass floor like the cn tower, but it only sort of was. you pay another $11 to walk into a cube room with frosted glass floors. then the cube moves out from the building for like 3m or something. weird music of shattering glass plays and then the frosted glass becomes clear and you can see below. it was lame and not worth spending more money once you are up there.

we did southbank for lunch and after stopping in at my place for a look see we did lygon street for dinner. cafe cornetto which i really like. i thought it would be fun for kim to have the winter dining experience of sitting outside in the rain having dinner al fresco, while wearing a jacket. just another emblem of the melbourne social experience. i think she was a little cold by the end of it since i suggested we either get gelato or chili hot chocolate and she picked the hot options. we were right next to in kari so picked up take away drinks from there. the place was so packed.. of asian people, in an argentinian restaurant. people were sitting on benches along the counter, there was no space even if we wanted to stay. it was still raining at that time and i had cold hands when we got back to her accomidation.

that was that and my very quick visit was over. it was funny that kim could echo every complaint i have about living in australia and she has only been here for two month. and not just that everything is way too expensive. her #1: i have no time to buy winter clothes. the stores are only open late on thursday nights and i was busy the last 3 thursdays. how do people buy clothes.. i only see closed clothing stores.

im sure everyone has seen this by now but anyways ZOMG! is he wearing a bracelet? what is that.. is that a watch? teehee, it was a funny reaction. some people are priceless. others are more so for not being invited to this party. very little alcohol involved in that particular internet viewing.

my keyboard is fucked again. punctuation not working. wtf.
