edit: we were watching IIC (again). for the life of me i couldnt remember the name of donato's dance when i was trying to tell whoever that it is still one of my favourite parts of the dvd. when we got that far, i was told that the two girls that have 30 seconds of screen time are twins. i totally had not noticed this previously, clearly not interested in people that i dont know.

and we decided that manpris are now going to be referred to as "shants", or maybe "shantz". some comedian/ politician/ well known australian used to call the manly 3/4 length pants "spants" since they are a shorts + pants combo. (sonia brought this info to the table) she suggested that we call them spants, and i was all no, no, they should be "shants", then you get the "h" from "shorts" into the name too. you heard it here first.

dawn, i think, took this awesome photo of me post immigrant song.

last night i went lawn bowling. yes, lawn bowling. its not just your grandmother's sport anymore. apparently there was a movie recently with mick malloy that popularized the sport once again in australia. the crew of foreigners got onto talking about this and the consensus became that there is also a recent british movie about lawn bowling.

the main issue before starting was that no one really knew exactly how to play. there is a little white ball that gets thrown first and then you aim to get the rest of the balls as close to that as possible. sounds not that hard, but all the black balls are weighted so they curved off when they slow down. another part of the game seems to be that bowl one way then go to the other side and bowl back to the first side. we got lazy and had one person throw all the balls back to the side we started at. the most common heard expression was "ive got two balls" said by basically everyone at some. then later "i lost my balls" after a bad throw or two.

pre bowling lindsay organized a barbeque and millions of other good things to eat, included nachos dip and awesome guacamole. kersti made the guac and it was ridiculously good. those californians know what to do with their avocados. it was also a celebration of bill and kersti's birthday so there was 3 sets of cupcakes- also back in fashion. little cakes with iciing never fail, also awesome. now that i have looked at these photos i am tempted to go and get some cake. (my oven is still broken or id make them..)

halfway through the night i realized i am an idiot because the last time i took the memory card out my camera i forgot to put it back in. i was saving photos directly onto my cameras memory. all 16 of them that i took. i had to delete the crappy ones as i went along. lolz. dawnie came too and drank $4 champagne with me all night. it helped us bowl better. good times.
